They have arrived! No, not the first leaves of spring. Not even the valiant blades of grass who poke every year through the remains of their winter-killed colleagues—Edmonton is still covered in a foot of snow, thanks to a freak April blizzard. "Then who?" you ask. "The new DailyHaiku Cycle 5 Contributor Team," I reply. The new cycle started April 20th, and they are amazing; we are in for six months of spectacular verse. The new DailyHaiku Special Feature 2—staring our own Mary Pinkoski—is now online too! If you haven't already, be sure to check it out!
where is spring? I must have lost it between the drifts
Also, if you are in the mood for some audio fun, Haibun Today very recently published my experimental haibun "Subway" in audio and text form (previously released in on the CD Raving Poets — Remixed), as backed by the world-famous Raving Poets Band. There is also a short article about the creation of the piece. My many thanks to Jeffrey Woodward at Haibun Today for the rare and exciting opportunity to publish an audio poem! (For the curious and diligent poetry practitioner, Haibun Today is an excellent place to keep up to date in the world of haibun; there is a wealth of innovative verse and exclusive interviews in their fine digital pages).
Here's hoping the snow melts before I run out of tea!
