A month of rest!
27 September 2007
Ah... time to relax. The 2007 Edmonton Poetry Festival was a whirlwind of literary madness! Thanks to everyone who made it possible, pleasant, and overly preposterous.
Attendance at the Leprechaun Burlesque was exceptional, and we had a packed house for the launch of the new DailyHaiku print edition on Saturday afternoon. Readings from all the contributors were diverse and vivid, the food was delicious, and DailyHaiku founder Mike Gravel shared a very powerful example of what we should strive to achieve when writing haibun. The haiku workshop was a big hit as well, so we may have to repeat it in the future. What a solid haiku community we have in this fine town!
While National Novel Writing Month is looming on the horizon, there are a few poetic events to keep your eyes out for in the month before the maelstrom. On Monday, October 29th I will be hosting and performing at a spooky Halloween edition of the Poet's Haven Reading Series (prizes and costumes and poems, oh my). Also stay tuned for a brand new and super-talented set of DailyHaiku contributors, launching around the neighbourhood of October 21st.
(If you haven't grabbed you copy of the new DailyHaiku print edition, copies are now on sale at Greenwoods' Bookshoppe.)
